Public Interest Disclosure Act May not be Broad Enough

The Government of Alberta tabled new whistleblower legislation. For the first time in Alberta it introduces the possibility that government employees may make disclosure of wrongdoing and protects them against reprisal. However, it is questionable if the bill will protect all people associated with government from reprisal when they want to point out wrongdoing. It is possible that contractors, physicians, and others do not have their expressive rights protected.
